Ukrainian intelligence agencies are believed to be behind a series of drone and ground operations near the capital of Sudan aimed at insurgents supported by the "Wagner" group. CNN reported this information, citing sources among Ukrainian military officials, as well as a high-ranking source among Sudanese military officials, American officials, and military informants from Chad.

CNN reports that the operation consisted of a series of attacks on the military group "Rapid Support Forces" (RSF), which is believed to receive support from Russian mercenaries of the "Wagner" group in their fight against the Sudanese army for control of the country.

It is noted that CNN could not independently confirm Ukraine's involvement in these attacks. However, video materials obtained by the channel show signs of attacks resembling the style typically associated with Ukrainian forces.

At the same time, a high-ranking source among Sudanese military officials stated that they have "no information about a Ukrainian operation in Sudan" and doubt the veracity of this information.

Several American officials, it seems, were unaware of this incident and expressed surprise at the possibility that the attacks and ground operation were carried out by Ukrainian forces.

According to another high-ranking source among Sudanese military officials, the attacks occurred just two days after a large convoy with weapons was transported to Sudan with the assistance of the "Wagner" group through the RSF garrison in al-Zurug, located in the southwestern part of the country, near the Chad border.

This source informed CNN that on September 6th, a large number of transport vehicles arrived in Zurug, including several trucks with weapons from "Wagner." Satellite images also revealed over 100 transport vehicles, including dozens of trucks, on the garrison's premises on the same day when high-ranking Sudanese sources reported the convoy with weapons.

Six drone strikes were directed at pickups traveling on the Shambat Bridge. Eight other attacks targeted parked vehicles, buildings, and armed individuals in Omdurman and the western suburbs of Omdad, where Sudanese military forces have conducted a series of airstrikes in recent weeks on positions of Sudanese rebel forces, reportedly resulting in civilian casualties.

CNN emphasizes that since the start of the full-scale military operation, Ukrainian and Russian forces have been experimenting with FPV drones equipped with rocket-propelled anti-tank grenade launchers. These highly maneuverable and precise munitions can carry substantial payloads and destroy vehicular targets. The use of armed commercial drones that explode upon impact is a novelty for Africa, although they have previously been employed for bomb drops in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Libya.
