Berlin Hosts Kyiv Investment Forum Focused on Resilience and Future Development
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner opened the Kyiv Investment Forum in Berlin, dedicated to the restoration of the capital and strengthening European stability.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to a message of the Kyiv City State Administration on Telegram.
The forum, organized this year by the city administrations of Kyiv and Berlin, is held under the slogan “Investing in sustainability. Shaping the future.” The event brought together investors, representatives of European authorities, businesses, and international partners to discuss joint decisions and identify projects for the post-war reconstruction of Kyiv.
During the forum, Klitschko and Wegner signed a memorandum of joint efforts to restore direct rail links between Kyiv and Berlin that will contribute to strengthening Kyiv's integration into European infrastructure.
“This will also contribute to economic ties between the capitals, logistics, and the comfort of our citizens' travel,” said the Mayor of the Ukrainian capital.
The Kyiv Investment Forum brings together investors, representatives of European cities, businesses, and international partners to discuss joint solutions and identify projects for the post-war reconstruction of the capital and the strengthening of European resilience.
After forums in Brussels in 2022 and 2023, this year's event was held for the first time in Berlin, a city that symbolizes recovery, innovation, and partnership. The main topics of the forum include investment in Kyiv's infrastructure and economy, the development of innovative projects, and social entrepreneurship as the basis for recovery.
The Kyiv Investment Forum was launched in 2012 by the Kyiv City State Administration. Due to Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022–2023, the events were held in Brussels at the invitation of Mayor Philippe Close.
Germany has long been a staunch ally of Ukraine, demonstrating this through military and humanitarian aid. In 2026, Berlin plans to significantly increase its military support for Kyiv, bringing the total amount of aid to a record €11.5 billion.
The funding covers the supply of artillery systems, drones, armored vehicles, and the replacement of two Patriot air defense systems that have already been transferred to Ukraine.
Germany remains Ukraine's largest military donor in Europe, having provided or pledged approximately €40 billion in aid since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
In addition, Germany is going to to increase its assistance to Ukraine's energy sector by allocating €450 million for the modernization of energy infrastructure and the purchase of technical equipment to strengthen the country's energy resilience.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Germany has embarked on its most ambitious military expansion since the Cold War, scrapping all fiscal limits on defense spending under Chancellor Friedrich Merz to counter an escalating threat from Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
