EU to Unveil 19th Sanctions Package Against Russia on Friday

The European Union plans to present its 19th package of sanctions against Russia this week.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Bloomberg.
The expected EU sanctions package, which will be the 19th since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, is scheduled to be announced on Friday, September 19.
This sanctions package is being prepared following a telephone conversation between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Donald Trump.
Earlier, it was reported that the European Commission is preparing its 19th package of sanctions against Russia, focusing on crypto assets, the banking sector, and energy.
Restrictions are also being considered for companies in China and India that process Russian oil, as well as ways to use frozen assets of the Russian central bank to support Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Slovakia and Hungary have resisted US pressure, including from President Trump, to cut Russian oil and gas imports until sufficient alternative infrastructure and supply routes are in place.
Slovak Economy Minister Denisa Sakova and Hungarian Cabinet Minister Gergely Gulyas emphasized that abrupt cuts could threaten energy security and harm their economies, with both countries prepared to diversify only when reliable alternatives are available.
“Before we can fully commit, we need to have the right conditions in place — otherwise we risk seriously damaging our industry and economy,” said Denisa Sakova.
Historically dependent on Russian energy, they continue to view these supplies as strategically important despite EU-wide sanctions.
As The Gaze informed earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola to discuss Ukraine’s EU accession process, stronger sanctions against Russia, and European support for building shelters to protect civilians.
