In the Office of the President of Ukraine Responded to the Material of NYT about Kostiantynivka

The investigation into the shelling of the market in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast, which occurred on Wednesday, September 6th, is still ongoing. It's worth noting that the Russian Federation has invaded Ukraine and is carrying out attacks on the civilian population. This statement was made by the advisor to the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, in response to the recent publication in the NYT.
"Undoubtedly, the appearance of doubts regarding Russia's involvement in the shelling of Kostiantynivka in foreign media contributes to the spread of conspiracy theories and, as a result, necessitates additional legal scrutiny by investigative authorities," emphasized Podolyak.
Podolyak also pointed out that law enforcement agencies are meticulously investigating each incident, including the shelling of Kostiantynivka, and are making efforts to document Russian war crimes, including an examination of the circumstances surrounding this attack.
"Society will undoubtedly receive answers to questions about what exactly happened in Kostiantynivka, as in thousands of other instances of Russian strikes on our country within the context of an unprovoked war. It is important to note that law enforcement agencies are inherently conducting thorough and detailed investigations of each incident while documenting Russian military crimes. This includes a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the attack on Kostiantynivka. In any case, the legal truth will be established," wrote Mykhailo Podolyak in his Telegram message.
To remind, an article in The New York Times claimed that a Ukrainian S-300 missile had allegedly struck the market in Kostiantynivka. Ukrainian journalists have noted that one of the authors of the article, Thomas Gibbons-Neff, has been repeatedly accused of promoting Russian narratives. He systematically produces anti-Ukrainian materials in The New York Times, attempting to discredit Ukraine and its army.
In one of his co-authored articles, it is claimed that Ukrainian forces used cluster munitions near a farm, "putting Ukrainian civilians at extraordinary risk." Thomas Gibbons-Neff has twice had his press credentials revoked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces for violating rules in conflict areas.
As a reminder, the tragedy in Kostiantynivka occurred on September 6th, resulting in 16 casualties and 33 injuries due to a Russian attack.
