Slovakia to Tighten Easter Security After Terror Attack in Russia

Slovakia's Security Council held an extraordinary meeting at the government last night. The main topic was the terrorist attack in Russia. Slovak Interior Minister Šutaj Eštok said that security controls would be tightened during the holidays, Aktuality reports.
According to intelligence services, the terrorist attack in Russia was religiously motivated.
"We have the biggest Christian holiday of the year here, and we have to respond to possible threats to the Slovak Republic," said Interior Minister Matusz Šutaj Eštok.
It is planned to monitor the situation during the holidays and increase checks and patrols near places of worship and shopping centres.
In this way, the government wants to eliminate the possible risk that the attack that took place in Moscow will be repeated in Slovakia. Police will also be checking borders and trains.
In addition, the Slovak government is ready to increase the level of security against the terrorist threat in the country. The second stage of the four possible stages has been announced.
"We have convened the security council in the context of the fact that in 2022, when there was chaos in Slovakia, a risky person who came from Tajikistan entered the country," says the country's Interior Minister. This year, he was expelled from Germany and is now in a camp in Sečovce.
As a reminder, in connection with the terrorist attack in Russia, the French government raised the terrorist threat level across the country to the highest, which means an attack is imminent. According to President Emmanuel Macron, representatives of the Islamic State, which attacked Moscow, also tried to carry out attacks in France.
In turn, German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser warned of the growing dangers associated with Russia's hybrid war of traditional and cyber espionage and accused the Russian Federation of encouraging illegal migrants to Western Europe in order to destabilise European countries.
