The Netherlands has Officially Launched a Mission to Protect a Key Logistics Hub in Poland
Military aid from NATO countries is delivered to Ukraine through this hub.
The Gaze reports on it according to Ukrinform.
Patriot and NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems are deployed. According to Ukrinform, citing the Dutch Ministry of Defence, the mission began on 1 December 2025 and will continue until 1 June 2026.
‘The Netherlands is providing protection for the logistics hub supporting Ukraine with two Patriot air defence systems, NASAMS, anti-drone systems and 300 military personnel,’ the statement said.
It is noted that they are located in the area of the Rzeszów-Jasionka airport, which is a key transit point for international aid.
"The Netherlands provides advanced capabilities for multi-layered air defence. In this way, we are protecting logistics supplies to Ukraine, defending NATO's eastern flank, and improving our own level of preparedness. After all, this is one of the first times we have deployed such a combination of systems simultaneously. We are showing Russia that there is no point in attacking this centre. This strengthens the security of Poland, Ukraine, NATO and the Netherlands," said Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans.
The Dutch contribution involves the creation of an integrated unit consisting of three different components. In addition to two Patriot complexes, these include the NASAMS system and anti-drone systems. Together with its partners, the Netherlands is providing multi-layered air defence that will be used against potential threats such as ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, fighter jets, helicopters and drones.
The Netherlands previously defended Polish airspace by deploying F-35 fighter jets. This F-35 squadron is now being decommissioned. Together with their Norwegian colleagues, the Netherlands controlled NATO airspace from 1 September to 1 December 2025. This deployment was also intended to deter Russia and protect military equipment heading to Ukraine.
