Ukraine Offers Lithuania Expertise in Countering Drones Amid Rising Russian Provocations
Ukraine has proposed sharing its extensive experience in countering Russian drone attacks with Lithuania to strengthen the security of NATO’s eastern flank.
The Gaze reports this, referring to a statement made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During a meeting in Kyiv with Rear Admiral Giedrius Premeneckas, Chief of Defence of Lithuania, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov, emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to provide practical assistance in drone warfare and air-defense coordination.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Hnatov also condemned Russia’s recent air provocations, including the violation of Lithuanian airspace by two Russian aircraft, calling them a “sign of Putin’s growing sense of impunity” and an attempt to extend the conflict closer to NATO borders.
Hnatov briefed his Lithuanian counterpart on the latest developments along the frontlines and underlined the urgent need to enhance protection of Ukraine’s skies from continued Russian missile and drone strikes.

He expressed deep gratitude to Lithuania for its unwavering support and comprehensive military aid, including participation in six defense coalitions, leadership in humanitarian and combat demining efforts, and involvement in the international Legio project.
The Ukrainian general also praised Lithuania for joining the PURL initiative – a multinational platform designed to coordinate long-term security assistance for Ukraine. Earlier, Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovilė Šakalienė announced her country’s plans to allocate €30 million toward the initiative.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in defense technology, drone countermeasures, and the training of Ukrainian troops.
As The Gaze previously reported, Lithuania has reaffirmed its commitment to maintain military assistance to Ukraine at a level of no less than 0.25% of its GDP while urging the international community to impose tougher sanctions on Russia.
