Ukraine's Power System Loses 1 Gigawatt of Generation Capacity
The electricity shortage will last for a long time.
The Gaze reports on it referring to Minfin.
Trypilska and Zmiivska thermal power plants are out of service. The Ministry of Energy confirms that there can be no question of canceling the schedules in the near future. Energy workers are working hard, but restoring the facilities will take time. Even for minor repairs, the equipment needs to be shut down. The substations connecting nuclear power plants to the power grid have been damaged.
"After massive attacks like the latest one, restoration will take several weeks — during this time, the country will be operating on a 3-4 shift power outage schedule. Then, the situation may stabilize to two stages, and then to one stage. This is an optimistic scenario. But again, it all depends on the shelling," says a representative of the energy company.
Each time, the enemy strikes even more brutally, even more cynically. Centrenergo company lost all of its power generation capacity.
An unprecedented number of missiles and countless drones “targeted the same thermal power plants that we had restored after the attacks in 2024. The stations are on fire. We have stopped. Currently, we have zero generation. Zero” - the company said, unable to contain their emotions.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on November 11 Russia launched a massive overnight barrage of drones and missiles across Ukraine, striking major cities and energy infrastructure.
