In this episode of our podcast, we are speaking with Christopher Occhicone, a photojournalist originally from the U.S., who is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and has been covering the war in Ukraine since 2014. Christopher is a regular contributor to Bloomberg. He has worked with Stern, The Wall St. Journal, The Atlantic, and Bloomberg. His work has also been featured in The New York Times, Time Magazine's Lightbox, The Washington Post's In Sight Column, ABC News, Al-Jazeera, National Geographic's Proof Blog, Burn Magazine, LensCulture, and was featured in the HBO documentary "Jim: The James Foley Story." Since 2016, he has been working on an ongoing long-term project about the effects of the leftover Soviet internat (orphanage) system in Ukraine. This includes documenting the human rights violations in the orphanages, how children of the orphanages adapt after adoption, and the marginalization of disabled people in Ukrainian society.
