Two weeks after its launch in the United States, OpenAI has expanded access to the ChatGPT application for iOS to other countries. The list includes 152 countries and regions, including Central and Eastern European countries, including Ukraine.

OpenAI announced this on their Twitter.

Previously, Apple device owners had to use intermediary applications to communicate with ChatGPT on their devices. Now they can download the official application from the App Store. The functionality of ChatGPT remains the same through the application - there are dedicated fields for questions and answers. If desired, the chat can be synchronized across different devices when using the same account. Voice requests are also allowed in the application, although ChatGPT currently responds only with text.

ChatGPT Plus subscribers will also gain access to the latest version of the OpenAI GPT-4 large language model on their smartphones. Among other advantages are faster response times and early access to new features. A subscription to ChatGPT Plus costs $19.99 per month.

On the OpenAI support website, it is mentioned that the application works in Ukraine "with some exceptions." However, the specific limitations are not specified. It is possible that this refers to temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The list of countries also does not include Russia and its supporting countries such as Belarus, Iran, Syria, and North Korea.

The OpenAI team plans to expand availability and work on improving the chatbot. For users in countries not included in the list, they recommend periodically checking for updates and the availability of the application on the App Store. However, whether they plan to add support for the ChatGPT application in Russia and its allied countries is currently unknown.

OpenAI introduced the mobile application ChatGPT for iOS in May. Initially, it was only available to residents of the United States. Later, access to the application started to expand - initially, residents of 11 other countries gained access (including Germany, France, Jamaica, South Korea, etc.), and then another 30 countries (including Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovenia).

Currently, OpenAI developers are focused on creating an application for the Android operating system. However, the company does not provide specific timelines, so users of this OS will have to keep an eye out for announcements.
