Czech Republic Launches Joint Digitization Project with Ukraine to Preserve Ukrainian Culture
Today, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, unveiled the initiation of the "Mobile Digitization Center" project. This joint effort is seen as a significant contribution to the support and preservation of Ukrainian culture, as reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine on its website.
The project presentation included the participation of the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic, Martin Baxa, and representatives from the ICOM committee and Czech cultural institutions.
The Mobile Digitization Center is employed in cases where transporting or moving selected documents for digitization is challenging or impossible. Typically equipped with scanners, computers, software for processing scanned material, portable storage devices for data preservation, and an independent power source, such centres offer a solution for digitizing various library documents and materials at different locations, as needed.
The creation of a mobile digitization centre, housed in a mobile transport container, aims to provide a portable and efficient solution for digitizing diverse library documents and materials in various locations as per current needs. The mobile centre can be utilized in areas affected by tragedies and is open for use by government institutions, non-profit organizations, medical facilities, libraries, or private companies requiring a quick and effective scanning of a large volume of documents, making them more accessible or safeguarding them from destruction.
Recall that earlier, the Czech government supported the proposal of the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavský, to freeze all Russian state assets on Czech territory. The Czech sanctions list will include the Russian federal entity managing assets abroad, "Goszagransobstvennost," under the President's Administration.
"The company is a legal entity financing the Russian regime, which is killing the peaceful population in Ukraine," he commented.
The Czech Republic's chief diplomat noted that the real estate associated with Goszagransobstvennost is primarily located in Prague and Karlovy Vary. The company's financial accounts and property in the cadastral will be frozen to prevent it from selling assets.
Overall, the Czech Republic has already frozen sanctioned assets totalling 415 million euros.
Czechia also maintains its national sanctions list against Russia, which includes figures such as Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church, Russian oligarch Vladimir Yevtushenko with his son, and chief Russian rocket scientist Boris Obnosov with his son, all residing in Prague.
