Czech Republic to Gift Ukraine a Modern Earth Observation Satellite

The Czech Republic has announced the construction and transfer of a modern observation satellite to Ukraine as a sign of support and strengthening of the country's defense and technological capabilities.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to European Pravda, citing the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social media platform X.
The outgoing Czech government announced that the Earth observation satellite will be capable of collecting data regardless of weather conditions and time of day, combining a radar system, optical sensors, and radio frequency spectrum monitoring.
It is expected that this will allow Ukraine to effectively monitor its territory even at night or in adverse weather conditions.
The satellite will be developed and constructed by Czech companies with experience in space technology, particularly in the creation of small satellites.
The project will be implemented in the coming months, and the satellite is expected to be launched within a year. In the future, this satellite is planned to be supplemented with other devices, creating a full-fledged constellation for enhanced monitoring.
The initiative is a continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Czech Ministry of Transport and the Ukrainian State Space Agency and part of the Czech government's program for the reconstruction of Ukraine, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Czech ministers emphasize that the gift of the satellite demonstrates the technological excellence of Czech companies and support for Ukraine, as well as strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of space technology and security.
“This is an investment in its [ed. Ukraine's] future and, therefore, in security and stability in Europe,” commented Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský.
As The Gaze informed earlier, Ukraine and France signed an agreement in Lviv to create a consortium for the deployment of a constellation of satellites that will provide Ukraine with sovereign access to space observation data.
