UK Ready to Invest Over £100 Million to Prepare Troop Deployment in Ukraine

The United Kingdom is prepared to spend well over £100 million to ready its forces for a possible deployment to Ukraine if U.S. President Donald Trump reaches a peace deal with Russia.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Sky News, citing UK Defence Secretary John Healey.
Speaking after meetings with European counterparts, Healey said the funds would be used to raise readiness levels and train British troops who could join a multinational mission to secure Ukraine’s borders in the event of a ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv.
“So, as President Trump leads the push for peace here in Europe, we are ready to lead the work to secure it in the long-term,” Healey said. “For our Armed Forces, I am already reviewing readiness levels and accelerating millions of pounds of funding to prepare for any possible deployment into Ukraine.”
He added that the projected costs “will significantly exceed £100 million.” The plan foresees British participation in multinational security forces under the Coalition of the Willing, a group of more than 30 nations spearheaded by Britain and France.
The coalition’s mission would be to help protect Ukraine’s airspace and territorial waters and to train Ukrainian forces should Russia agree to suspend its offensive operations.
British units, including ground contingents, could be dispatched “as soon as conditions permit,” Healey noted.
The minister also highlighted Britain’s prominent role in supporting Kyiv, saying Russia now views the UK as its ‘number one enemy’ because of the country’s leadership in supplying military aid, drones, and financial assistance to Ukraine.
“This is why President Volodymyr Zelenskyy calls the UK his closest ally. This is why Putin ranks Britain as his number one enemy,” Healey said.
As The Gaze previously reported, on October 15, the UK has imposed new sanctions on Russian oil companies Lukoil and Rosneft, as well as 51 tankers in the shadow fleet, to limit the Kremlin's revenues and increase energy pressure on Russia.
