Estonia Commits €10 Million to NATO-Led Initiative for Supplying U.S. Weapons to Ukraine

Estonia has announced it will contribute €10 million to a NATO initiative designed to accelerate the delivery of American-made weapons to Ukraine.
The Gaze reports this, referring to a post by Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
He stated that the funding will go to the Pooled Urgent Requirements for Lethality (PURL) mechanism, launched by the United States and NATO in August.
The program allows Alliance members to finance purchases of U.S. weapons for Ukraine in order to speed up military support.
“As Russia shows no sign of seeking peace – continuing frontline attacks and air terror against Ukrainian cities – Ukraine needs rapid support to protect civilians, hold the line, and move toward peace,” Tsahkna wrote on social media platform X.
Estonia’s pledge follows earlier remarks by President Alar Karis, who had signaled the country’s intention to join PURL but had not specified the size of its contribution.
European allies have so far pledged around $2 billion to the scheme, with NATO aiming to raise up to $10 billion in total.
As The Gaze previously reported, Estonia decided to completely ban Russian gas imports starting next year, emphasizing its desire to strengthen energy independence and support international sanctions against the aggressor.
