Finnish President Stubb Discusses Ukraine War with Trump, Backs Ceasefire Efforts

Finnish President Alexander Stubb says he has spoken with Donald Trump about the war in Ukraine and supports all efforts to bring about a quick ceasefire, The Gaze informs, citing Reuters.
Alexander Stubb thanked the US president for the conversation and mentioned the war in Ukraine in his post on the social media platform X. “We discussed Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. President Trump’s deadline for a ceasefire is approaching. Finland supports all efforts towards an immediate ceasefire,” he wrote.
It is worth recalling that Trump has threatened to impose new sanctions on Russia and its oil buyers if President Vladimir Putin does not agree to end the war in Ukraine by Friday.
Stubb said that during the conversation with Trump, the topic of icebreakers was also raised. He recalled that in June, Trump mentioned US negotiations to purchase 15 Finnish icebreakers. According to Stubb, Finland produces about 60% of the world's icebreakers and has the ability to build them quickly and reliably.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen urged NATO allies to unite in pressuring Russia to end its war in Ukraine by strengthening defense, intensifying sanctions, and continuing support for Ukraine.
