Long-Range Strikes and `Victory Plan`: Next Week, Ukrainian President to Address the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, 25 September, and before that he will address the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Voice of America reports.
The general debate at the UN General Assembly begins on 24 September, and US President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak the same day, followed by Zelenskyy the next day.
British representatives say that at the September UN General Assembly in New York, key issues of further support for Ukraine in the fight against Russia's war will be agreed upon. In particular, it will be about the consent of states that supply Ukraine with long-range weapons to use them against military targets deep in Russian territory, from where Russia is launching bloody and destructive strikes on Ukrainian cities.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who visited Kyiv with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on 11 September and met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Washington on 13 September, said that the main topics would be ‘continued in a wider circle at the General Assembly’.
Earlier, it was reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to personally present his victory plan to Western partners, including President Biden and US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, in New York.
President Zelenskyy also outlined the main key points of Ukraine's victory plan, but did not disclose its details.
The UN General Assembly previously condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. It demanded that Moscow withdraw its troops, but the Security Council has reached a deadlock, as Russia can veto any action.
According to diplomats, the UN Security Council meeting will be held at the request of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, South Korea and Malta.
