In 2025, the LMF conference, titled “Speak the Unspoken: Choices, Decisions, Responsibility,” will take place in Lviv from May 15 to 17. 

Key Speakers Kateryna Zarembo, Anne Applebaum, Timothy Garton Ash, Catalina Gómez, Volodymyr Yermolenko, etc. Registration for the Lviv Media Forum is open until May 1.

The event is themed “Speak the Unspoken: Choices, Decisions, Responsibility”. «As in previous years, the event will bring together foreign and Ukrainian media professionals, public intellectuals, researchers, policymakers, NGOs, and international organizations representatives for an open discussion on the challenges facing media and society today», the forum organizers note.

As last year, the LMF 2025 program is structured around two main streams:

  • Frankly Spoken — worldview-based stream, addressing the challenges of democracy in a global context.
  • Smartly Done — practical stream, focusing on the day-to-day work of Ukrainian and international media and communications professionals.

The keynote speaker for LMF 2025 opening will be Kateryna Zarembo, a political analyst specializing in Ukraine’s foreign and security policy and civil society. Since June 2024, Kateryna Zarembo has been serving as a paramedic of the Hospitallers Medical Battalion.

Among the speakers of the conference are:

  • Anne Applebaum, an American historian, writer, and journalist. Сolumnist for The Atlantic, Pulitzer Prize winner.
  • Catalina Gómez, covering Ukraine, Iran, and the Middle East; correspondent for France 24, La Vanguardia, and RFI.
  • Timothy Garton Ash, professor of European studies at the University of Oxford.
  • Janine di Giovanni, multi-award-winning journalist and author, CEO/Executive Director of The Reckoning Project.
  • Mikkeline Thomsen, Danish analyst and researcher at Analysis & Numbers.
  • Aida Cerkez, Bosnian journalist, senior member of OCCRP. Covered the siege of Sarajevo and the Bosnian War for Associated Press.
  • Aman Sethi, an Indian journalist, writer, and editor-in-chief of openDemocracy.
  • Volodymyr Yermolenko, Ukrainian philosopher and president of Ukrainian PEN.
  • Angelina Kariakina, co-founder of the Public Interest Journalism Lab, editor, and filmmaker with The Reckoning Project.
  • Volodymyr Dehtyarov, spokesperson for the "Khartiia" Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine and co-founder of Newsfront Communications.

The LMF 2025 program is available at the linkThe program is being finalized, and the final version will be published in early May, with organizers providing a separate announcement. All events within this year’s conference program will be in English, with no simultaneous interpretation.

To participate in the conference, fill out the registration form. Organizers will notify applicants about their participation within 20 calendar days after form submission. Application deadline: May 1, 2025.

Since 2013, LMF has been the largest media conference in Eastern and Central Europe. The organizer of the conference is the NGO Lviv Media Forum. Its goal is an effective and democratic society united by healthy communication. Since 2024, the conference has revamped the format to concentrate on issues crucial for garnering international support for Ukraine during the all-out war.

The Gaze media, which is part of the state enterprise "The International Broadcasting Multimedia Platform of Ukraine", is one of the information partners of LMF 2025.
