Moldova's CEC Denies Registration to Pro-Russian Political Bloc with Unconstitutional Party
The Central Election Commission of Moldova has refused to register the pro-Russian bloc Victorie (Victory) of fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor to participate in the presidential election and referendum in Moldova.
This is reported by Newsmaker.
According to the CEC resolution of 7 August, it is impossible to register a bloc with a name similar to that of another party. In this case, the name of the bloc is the same as the name of the party that is part of this bloc - Victorie.
One of the CEC members, Vadim Filippov, noted that the Victorie party is a member of the bloc and, accordingly, is not an electoral competitor of the bloc. Deputy Chairman of the CEC Pavel Postike explained that the party could leave the bloc in the future and, accordingly, could become such an electoral competitor.
The resolution also noted that the unconstitutional Shor party had joined the bloc, and that the party's leader, Ilan Shor, had been sentenced to 15 years in Moldova.
The Victorie Bloc was created in April 2024 in Moscow. It included five parties controlled by fugitive politician Ilan Shor: the unconstitutional Shor party, Chance, Revival, Alternative Force for the Salvation of Moldova (FASM), and Victorie. The first congress of the bloc was held in Moscow.
Earlier, the consideration of the registration of the bloc was postponed due to technical errors in the documents.
