New Austrian Foreign Minister to Visit Ukraine
The new head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, will visit Ukraine on Friday, Vienna Online reports.
Meinl-Reisinger's spokesperson told APA that, among other things, the minister is scheduled to meet with her Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha and visit the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, which was hit by a Russian missile last year.
A reception will be held at the Austrian embassy, to which representatives of business and humanitarian organisations are invited.
This will be Meinl-Reisinger's second trip abroad since her appointment on 3 March. Her first visit was to Brussels, where she held talks with EU diplomat Kaja Kallas.
On Wednesday, the Austrian minister had a telephone conversation with Sybiha, during which she reaffirmed Austria's ‘full commitment to Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity’.
Earlier it was reported that during her first telephone conversation with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, Meinl-Reisinger discussed Russia's war against Ukraine and the need for European unity on this issue.
The new Austrian government, led by Chancellor Christian Stocker, was sworn in on 3 March after a five-month political crisis.
As The Gaze previously reported, on 8 July in the morning, the Russian army launched several waves of massive missile attacks on Ukraine. In particular, in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Donetsk region. The attacks killed dozens of people and injured hundreds.
The Okhmatdyt children's hospital was among the facilities hit by Russian missile strikes.
