Partnership for Ukraine - Results of Zelensky's Visit to Sweden
The supply of Swedish Gripen aircraft, joint production of military equipment in Ukraine, training of military personnel, and support for the Ukrainian peace formula were discussed by President Volodymyr Zelensky during his official visit to Stockholm. A series of strategic agreements were reached during the negotiations with Sweden's top officials.
Zelensky announced this on his Twitter.
As part of the visit, the President of Ukraine held meetings with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, King Carl XVI, Queen Silvia, Speaker Andreas Norlén, and heads of parliamentary parties.
During the negotiations, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in personnel training, as well as in the production, operation, and maintenance of the CV90 IFVs, which Sweden had previously provided to Ukraine as military aid.
"Recognizing that the CV90 is an efficient and modern combat vehicle, Ukraine and Sweden are convinced that further cooperation on the CV90 platform will be mutually beneficial," the statement from the Ukrainian president said.
Furthermore, it has been announced that Ukrainian military personnel have begun training on Swedish-produced self-propelled artillery installations - Archer. According to Zelensky, active work is underway not only in terms of supplying Swedish military equipment but also in establishing joint military production in Ukraine.
Ukrainians are also participating in the testing of Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighters. According to Zelensky, negotiations are ongoing regarding the possibility of enhancing Ukraine's airspace with these aircraft.
"Step by step, negotiation by negotiation, we are approaching the point where Gripen will appear in our skies. Today, I discussed this, among other things, with Prime Minister of Sweden and representatives of Swedish parliamentary parties. Thank you for understanding our needs," emphasized the president in his evening video address.
It has also been announced that Sweden is preparing a 13-package military assistance program for Ukraine, aimed at strengthening Ukrainian air defense. Simultaneously, discussions have begun on a bilateral security guarantee document.
According to Zelensky, Sweden has joined the implementation of the Peace Formula. In particular, the country supports points related to restoring radiation safety, justice, environmental safety, and humanitarian demining.
Additionally, Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with the Prime Minister of Sweden the acceleration of the supply of Swedish high-tech pumping equipment, which will provide drinking water to dozens of Ukrainian cities suffering from water shortages after the destruction of the dam at the Kakhovska HPP by Russia.
Sweden has promised to actively participate in the post-war recovery of Ukraine, including involving private capital.
"Sweden will stand with us in post-war transformation - I thank you for that. We also discussed the possibility of patronage over Ukrainian regions and sectors that need recovery after Russian attacks," reported Volodymyr Zelensky.
After negotiations with the Prime Minister of Sweden, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Sweden for its "strong and consistent support." He emphasized that the countries defend common values.
