Polish Oil Giant Halts Russian Supplies

Polish company Orlen is stopping the purchase of Russian oil for its Czech plant from 30 June.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Reuters.
Orlen has announced the end of Russian oil imports to the Czech Republic. From 30 June, the company will not renew its contract with Rosneft for the supply of raw materials to its refinery in Litvinov. This was the last valid contract linking the company to oil from Russia.
‘Today we have freed Central Europe from Russian oil,’ said CEO Ireneusz Fafara at a press conference.
After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Czech Republic began to actively diversify its sources of imports. A decisive step was the completion of the modernisation of the TAL pipeline, which transports oil from the Italian port of Trieste through Germany to the Czech Republic. It replaced the traditional route through the Druzhba pipeline, which for decades provided up to 50% of the country's annual oil imports.
According to the company, Orlen currently supplies its Czech refineries with oil from the North Sea, the Mediterranean, Saudi Arabia, North and South America, and Africa.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukraine would move to initiate sanctions against countries fueling Russia’s war through continued oil purchases.
