Romania Approves Transit of Equipment Transferred by Estonia to Ukraine and Will Train Ukrainian Military Personnel on It

The day before, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis informed the country's parliament of the approval of the transit through the national territory of some equipment and material assets transferred to Ukraine by Estonia. The equipment will be used to train the Ukrainian military in its use and maintenance, digi24 reports.
As stated in President Johannis' letter, in February 2024, the Estonian Ministry of Defence sent a request to the Romanian Ministry of National Defence to "transfer equipment and material assets to Ukraine free of charge".
To this end, Estonia asked Romania to support the transit of this equipment, as well as to help organise training for Ukrainian crews who will receive and operate it.
"Romania's participation in training activities for the Ukrainian military is an important and necessary element in supporting the collective actions of NATO member states and partners in support of Ukraine," the Romanian president said.
According to the Romanian Constitution, the President of Romania has the authority to authorise the transit of foreign military equipment, subject to notification of the Parliament.
For security reasons, additional details of the military aid Estonia has provided to Ukraine, which will be transported in transit through Romania, are not disclosed.
