Slovakia Launches Production of Armoured Vehicle Turrets in 1 Year, for €15 Million
On 27 September, Slovakian company Koval Systems opened a new workshop at its plant in the village of Belusa for the production of turrets for CV90MkIV armoured vehicles.
This is reported by Magnet Press.
The British-Swedish company BAE Systems Hägglunds, together with Slovak industrial partners, is to supply 152 CV90MkIVs to the Slovak Armed Forces. They will have a new D-series turret armed with a 35 mm cannon.
A new 4,500-square-metre production facility was built for the project. It was completed in a year.
‘The total investment in the construction of the new workshop and technology is about 15 million euros, and last year we created 25 new jobs. By the end of 2025, we expect to increase the number of employees by about 100 more, and within three years this number could grow by another 100-150 employees,’ said Jan Michalek, Commercial Director of Koval Systems.
In addition to the purchase of 152 BMPs, the contract also provides for a large share of localised production. In particular, 40% of the contract value is to be made up of products from local Slovak companies.
In addition to the opening of the new workshop, a contract for the production of CV 90 turrets for the Czech Republic was also solemnly signed.
