Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha, following US President Donald Trump's statement on shortening the deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin to establish peace, called the White House leader's position “realistic and firm.”

The Gaze reports on it, referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian minister recalled that Putin rejects all peace efforts.

He also added that the Ukrainian side appreciates the “clarity and strength” shown by the US president.

"Putin rejects a ceasefire, avoids meetings between leaders, and prolongs the war. He will only stop the terror when we break the backbone of his economy, which already has systemic problems, and deprive him of military budget funding. The United States, Europe, and the Group of Seven have the necessary power to do this," Sybiha emphasized.

In this context, he stressed the need to synchronize sanctions against Russia as much as possible.

“Now is the right moment. It is time to consolidate a single, strong sanctions fist and strike Russia's military budget with all our might,” the Ukrainian foreign minister added.

He recalled that in recent weeks, Ukraine has synchronized previous EU sanctions packages. Together with its allies, Kyiv is also taking measures to eliminate loopholes and prevent Russia's access to technology.

“In the coming weeks, there should be maximum synchronization of sanctions by all partners against Russia in order to increase the cost of the war for the aggressor. We are actively working with our partners to achieve this goal,” Sybiha concluded.

As reported earlier, on July 28, Trump expressed his disappointment with Putin and promised to shorten the 50-day deadline he had set for him to establish peace in Ukraine.

According to the US president, the new deadline will be approximately 10-12 days.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed Trump's new deadline for Russia.

As The Gaze reported earlier, US President Donald Trump has announced a new deadline for Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to resolve the war he started against Ukraine.

At a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Thornbury, Scotland, the American president said that the new deadline would be “approximately 10-12 days from today.”
