The Gentle Whisper of Eastern Europe: Top 10 ASMR Artists
We have all heard and seen global ASMR stars whispering in English countless times – but how is soothing whispering in Ukrainian, Polish, Czech, or any other Eastern European language any worse? The answer is – it isn’t.
In fact, sometimes it’s even a bit better. There is something hypnotically exotic and fairy-tale-like in Eastern European countries that perfectly complements the magic of ASMR. The same triggers, the same languid sighs, the same close-up mouth sounds near the microphone, and the same enchanting hand movements in front of the camera – yet, when performed by artists from Eastern Europe, this traditional brain massage acquires an inexplicable, but very pleasant and special charm.
SensorAdi
In 2015, a Polish teacher posted several ASMR videos on YouTube, prompting concerned parents to contact the school administration. They gave him an ultimatum: either he deletes all his quirky videos, or he faces disciplinary action for behaviour deemed inappropriate for his position. These were times when almost no one in Poland had heard of ASMR. So, that teacher spent a lot of effort and energy, and also enlisted the support of experts from ASMR University, to explain to the school that he was not some kind of maniac or pervert, but simply had an unconventional hobby. This hobby has long since become his life's work – today, Adrian from the English-language channel SensorAdi has 1,500 recorded videos and a quarter of a million subscribers. Additionally, he has a channel exclusively in Polish, "Relaks Wieczorową Porą."
Bilochka
Bilochka is a star of Ukrainian ASMR who, before the full-scale invasion, created content in Russian and had many subscribers from the Russian Federation. However, after rockets and bombs started falling daily on her hometown, she switched to the Ukrainian language. And rightly so – let the Russians calm down before bed listening not to the gentle whispers of a Ukrainian beauty, but to the elderly mutterings of their Putin, who almost every day tells those people, who steal toilets and washing machines from their neighbours, schizophrenic tales about the greatness of the Russian nation. Bilochka’s content in Ukrainian turned out even better, as Ukrainian, like French, is a language of love, and the artist’s content is mostly in the style of role-playing, where a caring girl puts her boyfriend to sleep after a hard day’s work and soothes him with her tender voice.
Kewas
Ten years ago, when a beautiful girl started doing ASMR – clicking, smacking, and breathing heavily into the microphone – it looked somewhat ambiguous. Today, the societal consensus is different: let beautiful girls do ASMR, as long as they don’t open accounts on OnlyFans. The Czech artist Kewas is one of those girls who made the right choice. She suffered from insomnia since childhood, often spending hours in bed thinking about her life problems. Yoga and ASMR helped her overcome anxiety. On her channel, Kewas focuses on videos in the style of unintentional ASMR imitation. Mostly, these are medical role-plays where she acts as a doctor conducting full-body, spinal, and cranial nerve examinations on patients. In addition to a calming silence, Kewas’ videos contain a lot of educational information about the human body. Alongside her English videos, the ASMR artist has created a special playlist with clips in her native Czech, where she also teaches the language.
ASMR in Slovak
Despite professional ASMR artists’ efforts to maintain the purity of their profession, there are those who play on multiple fronts simultaneously. For instance, the Slovak artist Petrana Gala has both an ASMR channel on YouTube and an OnlyFans account, where she posts intimate photos and videos for money. She does not hide her double life and openly talks about her experiences on the erotic platform. However, it’s much more interesting when she simply talks about something in her native language – for example, the stories of her tattoos. For those who want to enjoy soothing Slovak whispers without any sexual undertones, they should check out a geography lesson on Slovakia from the blogger ASTRÆA or the opportunity to get their teeth treated in the dental office of the ASMR artist Enny.
Klaudia Leclercq
This is the most popular ASMR creator in Poland – over the 4 years of its existence, the Klaudia Leclercq channel has gained over half a million subscribers and nearly 200 million views. It will particularly appeal to those who want to get to know Poland through its show business stars, influencers, and public figures. Klaudia Leclercq actively involves famous people in creating ASMR together – there are already about 50 such collaborations in the corresponding playlist. Famous Polish singers, flamenco dancers, popular radio DJs, weather presenters, top bloggers, and representatives of many other professions – it seems Klaudia Leclercq can attract any Polish celebrity to her ASMR channel for a joint whisper session.
Quurbi
A Ukrainian artist from the Quurbi ASMR channel began her ASMR journey just a year ago but has already recorded over 700 videos and gathered an audience of 129,000 subscribers. The secret to her success is not only her hard work but also her engagement with almost all popular genres. Sound triggers, medical examinations, personal attention, instructions for quick sleep and relaxation, unboxings, live streams – on Quurbi’s channel, everyone will find what they love most about ASMR. A unique feature of her content is humorous role-play videos, such as “lips from a trash cosmetologist” or “manicure in a trash salon.”
Catmoon
Imagine what ASMR from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán would look like – he sits close to the microphone and begins to repeat his signature mantra in a penetrating whisper about how the EU shouldn’t give money to suffering Ukraine, that it’s better to be friends with the dictator Putin because he’s so bloody, so nuclear-powerful, so militarily-criminal... Fortunately, European political trolls haven’t thought of using ASMR for pro-Russian propaganda yet – but for those who like the sound of the Hungarian language, they should pay attention not to Orbán’s political speeches, but to the Catmoon ASMR channel. Its owner, Anita, lives in Bulgaria but is ethnically Hungarian, so she has several videos in her native language. Anita focuses on old-school ASMR – cosy and slow videos in the personal attention format with a quiet voice and gentle sounds of various triggers.
Anna Terradiasmr
Romania is famous for its tales of the legendary Dracula, gypsy witches, and delicious lamb dishes – but in the ASMR field, this country also has something to show the world. Romanian Anna currently lives in the USA, so she has two channels: the English-language TerraDiASMR and the purely Romanian Anna Terradiasmr. Her popular ASMR unboxing videos are guaranteed to appeal to fashion lovers and shopaholics who enjoy the sounds of tape, box opening, crinkling of wrapping paper, and the sticky popping of bubble wrap. For those who want to focus solely on the sound of the gentle Romanian language, they will enjoy Anna’s playlist where she whispers various interesting books in her native tongue.
Evening Star
Usually, people don’t consume ASMR content in the morning – there is little need for relaxation after sleep. The day is also not a convenient time for ASMR because if your boss sees you watching someone smacking into a microphone instead of diligently preparing a monthly report, they might question whether you are worth the money they pay you. Instead, the evening after a hard day’s work is the perfect time for ASMR therapy. Amanda Rutkowska from the Evening Star channel appears on the screens of her lonely-in-life subscribers when they need to calm down before bed and receive personal attention – so that a caring ENT can clean their tired ears, a careful optometrist can check their weary eyes, and a gentle trichologist can pleasantly rummage through their hair.
Learning to Whisper in Ukrainian
ASMR is a great opportunity not only to relax but also to learn a foreign language almost unnoticed while in a semi-sleep state. Today, as a large-scale war for human dignity and democratic values rages on the continent, it’s worth learning at least a few basic conversational phrases in Ukrainian to support the heroic people who have become a living shield protecting all of Europe from the barbaric invasion of vile Russian forces. You can start with this video from Welsh ASMR artist and language enthusiast WelshASMR82, where he quietly and calmly teaches the most common Ukrainian words and expressions using a language guide.
