Ukraine Completes Domestic Preparations to Open First EU Negotiation Cluster
Ukraine has completed all internal procedures required to open the first negotiation cluster with the European Union, The Gaze reports.
First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Oleksandr Korniyenko announced that the Cabinet of Ministers has approved three key Roadmaps for transformation in the following priority areas:
• Rule of law
• Public administration reform
• Functioning of democratic institutions
“The first two directions are conditions for opening Cluster 1 ‘Fundamentals of the EU Accession Process’,” Korniyenko stated.
He emphasized that these Roadmaps serve as strategic benchmarks guiding Ukraine’s progress toward full membership in the European Union.
“The documents were prepared in an inclusive format: with the participation of Parliament, Government, civil society, and in accordance with the recommendations of the European Commission,” he added.
The next step will be the formal submission of the Roadmaps to the European Commission and EU member states for review and approval.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated: “We are making important steps toward EU membership. Our goals remain unchanged: to open negotiations on all six clusters this year, and after the end of the war, to become an integral part of a united Europe.”
