Ukraine Welcomes Nawrocki’s Inauguration, Urges Continued Support

Ukraine is looking forward to building a constructive and forward-looking dialogue with Poland’s newly inaugurated President Karol Nawrocki on a wide range of issues, The Gaze reports, citing Ukrinform.
This was emphasized by Ukraine’s Ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, following Nawrocki’s inauguration ceremony in Warsaw, where Bodnar attended as part of the diplomatic corps.
He noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had already held a phone call with Nawrocki to congratulate him on his election victory and invited him to visit Ukraine. According to Bodnar, both sides are now working to finalize the timing of the visit, with an official announcement expected soon.
Bodnar underscored that Ukraine values Poland’s consistent and unequivocal support in the face of Russian aggression. “The recent presidential communication reaffirmed that security cooperation and backing for Ukraine remain among Poland’s core strategic interests, and we are grateful for that,” he said.
He further stressed Poland’s vital role in supporting Ukraine’s defense sector, especially through facilitating weapons deliveries, maintaining logistical corridors, and promoting international assistance.
The ambassador also highlighted that work is underway to address historically sensitive issues between the two nations. “Ukraine is demonstrating openness to addressing complex historical issues,” Bodnar added.
He pointed to ongoing exhumation efforts in Ukraine involving Polish wartime victims and expressed hope that Poland would reciprocate by facilitating similar efforts on its territory, particularly in the village of Yurechkowa near Przemyśl. Preparations for such work are already underway, he noted.
Bodnar expressed confidence that continued presidential-level dialogue will help advance progress not only in security and defense cooperation but also in Ukraine’s postwar recovery, an area in which Polish businesses have shown strong interest.
President Nawrocki was officially sworn in on August 6. Following his election, President Zelenskyy expressed optimism that Poland would remain a steadfast partner in Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty and recovery.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Andriy Nadzhos confirmed in an interview that the reburial of remains recently discovered in Puzhnyky, Ternopil region, is scheduled for early September.
