Ukrainian Team Wins Nine Medals at FISU 2025 Winter Universiade in Italy, Seven of Them in Biathlon
The Ukrainian national team has won its ninth medal at the Winter Universiade in Italy: biathlete Daryna Chalyk won a bronze medal in the World Universiade in the cross-country skiing event, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine reports.
Daryna Chalyk won the 10 km pursuit.
Chalyk (5 misses at four firing lines) lost only to her rivals from Poland - Barbara Skrobyshevska (3) - 57.7 seconds and Amelia Lizhka (2) - 27.7 seconds.
Ukrainian Oleksandra Merkushyna (4) finished one step away from the podium in +1.18.4.
Liliia Steblyna (7) from Ukraine took 15th place among 49 participants.
The Ukrainian national team has already won 7 medals in biathlon and 9 medals in total - 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.
Since 13 January, Italy has been hosting the World University Sports Competition of the XXXII Winter Universiade. More than 2,000 athletes from 54 countries are taking part in the Games.
The competition programme of the Student Games will end on 23 January.
