Ukrainian Wins Euro 2025 20km Race Walk

Ukrainian athlete Liudmyla Olyanovska won the gold medal in the women's 20km race walk at the Euro 2025 team event.

The competition began on Sunday, 18 May, in Podebrady, Czech Republic.
Thirty-four walkers took part in the event, four of whom represented Ukraine: in addition to Olyanovska, Maria Sakharuk, Olena Sobchuk and Valeria Sholomitska took part in the race.
Olyanovska stayed in the group of leaders for the first six kilometres and spent the rest of the race at the head of the competition. The Ukrainian finished with her best time of the season - 1 hour 27 minutes and 56 seconds.
At the finish line, the leader of the Ukrainian national team was 9 seconds ahead of the holder of the new French national record, Clemence Beretta. Another French walker, Pauline Stey, completed the top three.
Ukrainian Maria Sakharuk also made it to the top ten, finishing ninth. Olena Sobchuk was 14th, while Valeria Sholomitska finished 18th.
Liudmyla Olyanovska is also a bronze medallist at the 2015 World Athletics Championships in 20 km walking.
