Ukrainians Win Gold and Bronze at the European Chess Championships
For the first time in history, two Ukrainian chess players took the podium at the European Women's Rapid Championship in Monte Carlo. This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Youth and Sports on its Facebook page.
Anna Ushenina won gold, and Yulia Osmak received a bronze medal.
After 11 rounds, the four chess players scored 8.5 points each and shared first place. The prize places were determined by tie-breaks. Sarasadat Khadem Al-Sharia from Spain won the silver medal, while Elin Robers from the Netherlands took fourth place.
Earlier, Anna Ushenina became the European vice-champion in lightning, which also took place in Monte Carlo.
