Over 190,000 Russian War Crimes Recorded Since Full-Scale Invasion
Russia has committed more than 190,000 war crimes since launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Ukraine’s Office of the Prosecutor General.
Deputy Prosecutor General Andriy Leshchenko said during a meeting with representatives of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine, led by Erik Møse, that the scale and coordination of Russia’s actions amount to a “planned state policy to destroy the Ukrainian nation.”
“Our investigations focus not only on the direct perpetrators, but primarily on the political and military leadership of the aggressor state,” Leshchenko noted.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Ukrainian prosecutors have registered more than 190,000 war crimes committed by Russian forces since February 2022.
Charges have been brought against 1,029 Russian servicemen, 747 indictments have been submitted to court, and 206 individuals have already been convicted.
The Head of the Department for Countering Crimes Committed in Armed Conflict, Yurii Rud, highlighted a sharp rise in attacks on civilians, noting that in the first nine months of 2025 alone, Ukrainian authorities recorded over 5,100 drone strikes targeting civilian areas – twice as many as during all of 2024.
Officials and UN representatives discussed coordination between Ukrainian and international institutions to strengthen evidence collection and ensure accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
They also reviewed the latest UN commission report documenting widespread use of force against civilians in occupied and frontline regions, including systematic drone assaults and forced deportations.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation and data sharing to ensure comprehensive and transparent documentation of atrocities.
