The United States, in collaboration with the United Kingdom, has declared a new set of sanctions against the terrorist group Hamas and its financial sources in response to its attack on Israel in early October. According to reports from the "European Truth," statements from the US Department of the Treasury and the State Department confirm this announcement.

It is noted that the third round of sanctions targets key members of the group and mechanisms used by Iran to support Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) based in Syria. Seven individuals and two legal entities have been added to the sanctions list, providing support or acting on behalf of Hamas or PIJ.

Simultaneously, the US State Department has imposed sanctions on the leader of the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the "Al-Quds Brigades," Akram al-Ajouri.

The US Department of the Treasury emphasizes that these sanctions mark the third round of restrictive measures against Hamas, following previous ones announced on October 18 and 27 in response to the group's attack on Israel.

Meanwhile, Israel and the United States are urging the European Union to impose new sanctions against Hamas. However, a representative of the European Commission stated that Hamas is already on the EU list of terrorist organizations, and providing resources, including financial ones, directly or indirectly to Hamas is already prohibited.

It is worth mentioning that The Gaze previously reported that the EU and G7 are collaborating on the 12th package of sanctions against Russia. This package, the twelfth since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, includes a ban on Russian diamonds, additional measures to combat Moscow's evasion of sanctions, and the inclusion of companies in third countries that assist Russia in circumventing sanctions.

Currently, the EU is working with the Group of Seven (G7) on a mechanism to track the movement of diamonds across borders, reducing Russia's ability to redirect its trade elsewhere under the ban.

It is expected that the G7 countries will also expand the list of prohibited goods that Russia can use for military purposes. The focus of the EU and its allies is on preventing the Kremlin from obtaining critical goods necessary for weapons production. As part of these efforts, G7 countries seek to exert diplomatic pressure on third countries assisting Moscow.
