Zelensky: Ukraine Will Stand Firm – Vital to Disarm the Enemy and Avoid Pauses
President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, addressed the "Ramstein" defense conference in Brussels. He stated that Ukraine can and must win the winter battle against terror, as well as the battle to determine the terms and conditions of this war's conclusion. Zelensky's speech is reported on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
"Ukraine can endure. It will endure. However, it is crucial to disarm our enemy. What are the strong points of Russia? Honestly, only that they can disrupt lives. Russia is no longer capable of doing anything else. Security donor? No. Development contributor? No. Political pole? No. Source of economic growth? No. Terrorist? Yes, that's the only thing! It threatens Ukraine and many other nations. We need to disarm this tool from Russia's hands – the tool of terror," declared Volodymyr Zelensky.
The President of Ukraine also discussed the "unique situation" on the frontlines. He mentioned that Russia has lost its initiative.
"We have a unique situation on the battlefield right now. It's a situation in which we must press on without any breaks. It's very important not to have pauses. We must understand the principles of effective defense. Defense should not allow the adversary to stop and regroup, to choose new tactics," said Volodymyr Zelensky in Brussels.
One of Ukraine's primary needs at the moment is the protection of its people, and an essential element of this is effective air defense.
"We need to protect people. We need the ability to boost economic activity. We need adequate exports of grain and key products, Ukrainian grain. We can also talk about metallurgy. We need children to go to school, to learn not only online. We need our people to live according to their plans, to be able to build those plans on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis," stated the President of Ukraine.
It's worth noting that the sixteenth meeting of the Contact Group on Ukrainian Defense is taking place in Brussels. According to the U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, Julian Smith, this "Ramstein" format meeting will primarily focus on issues related to air defense and the supply of ammunition for it, as well as other systems essential for Ukrainian military.
