Zelenskyy Arrives in Copenhagen for European Political Community Summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Copenhagen on Thursday to take part in the European Political Community (EPC) summit, where around 50 heads of state and government, as well as EU leaders, are gathering to discuss security, energy and Europe’s strategic future.
The Gaze reports this, referring to DR and Reuters.
Zelenskyy visited the Bella Center, the venue of the meeting, and held a brief discussion with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. According to Frederiksen, the talks focused on strengthening cooperation in defense technology, particularly drones, which she described as “one of the key elements of hybrid warfare.”
“Ukraine is helping Europe and Denmark, and we plan to deepen our cooperation. Technology is advancing very quickly, and drones are among the most decisive elements in today’s conflicts,” Frederiksen said.
The Ukrainian president is expected to deliver a speech during the plenary session of the summit later in the day. He will also hold a joint press conference with Frederiksen to outline the results of his meetings with European leaders, Reuters reported.
The Copenhagen gathering comes a day after an informal EU summit, where Zelenskyy joined by video link.
The European Political Community was created in 2022 on the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The platform brings together more than 40 European countries, both inside and outside the EU, to coordinate policies and engage in strategic dialogue.
The summit takes place as Ukraine urges its partners to accelerate support in defense and security, including air defense and drone capabilities, amid intensified Russian strikes across the front line and against energy infrastructure.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on October 1, Ukraine received another tranche of €4 billion from the European Union as part of the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) initiative, which provides for financing from frozen Russian assets.
