Zelenskyy Leaves Washington Empty-Handed After "Tough" Meeting With Trump

The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump in Washington ended without the expected results. The American leader refused to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, emphasizing the priority of diplomacy over military support.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Axios.
During the meeting, which sources described as “was not easy ” and even “bad,” Trump made it clear that he was not ready to agree to the supply of long-range missiles, as he believes that this could undermine his diplomatic efforts to end the war.
“Nobody shouted, but Trump was tough,” stated the first source.
Donald Trump told Zelenskyy in detail about his recent conversation with Vladimir Putin and stressed that he sees it possible to end the conflict by “freezing” the front line.
After the meeting, he wrote on Truth Social that he had called on both sides to “stop where they are.” In turn, in a media interview after his meeting with the U.S. President, Zelenskyy agreed with this proposal.
Despite Ukraine's efforts to obtain not only Tomahawks but also other types of weapons, Trump did not make any new commitments.
In addition, the Ukrainian President held talks with European leaders, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. It is reported that Starmer offered to cooperate with the U.S. on developing a peace agreement for Ukraine in accordance with the 20-point plan for Gaza.
European counterparts expressed their support for Ukraine and agreed to coordinate further actions, in particular regarding a possible peace initiative.
A Downing Street spokesperson said: “Further discussions about how they could support Ukraine in the lead up to, and following, a ceasefire would continue this week, including in a Coalition of the Willing call on Friday, the leaders agreed.”
