Zelenskyy, Macron to Hold Talks After Trump–Putin Meeting in Alaska
French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have agreed to hold talks after the upcoming summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

The decision followed additional discussions between Macron and Zelenskyy on August 14–15, during which they concluded that meeting after the Trump–Putin talks would be “the most effective and strategic timing,” depending on the outcomes and agenda of the Alaska summit.
No date or location for the Macron–Zelenskyy meeting has been announced.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot earlier disclosed that Trump had participated in a videoconference with Zelenskyy and European leaders, during which the U.S. president pledged to press Putin for an unconditional ceasefire.
Barrot stressed that any negotiations on territorial issues would take place only in Zelenskyy’s presence at a subsequent meeting.
According to Barrot, the United States intends to join the Coalition of the willing led by France, the United Kingdom, and Germany to provide Ukraine with security guarantees.
