Zelenskyy Signs Law Aligning Ukraine’s Road Transport with EU Standards

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a key European integration law that brings Ukraine’s road transport market closer to EU standards, The Gaze reports.
The legislation introduces updated licensing rules for carriers, defines the professional requirements for transport managers, and sets out stricter safety and service quality measures. A unified information system for monitoring transport safety will also be established.
One of the law’s central provisions is a “good reputation” requirement for companies seeking a transport licence, excluding those with serious criminal charges or repeated violations of transport laws.
Carriers will also need to prove financial stability via a bank guarantee or insurance and demonstrate managerial competence.
These reforms aim to reduce road accidents, improve working conditions in the sector, and harmonize Ukrainian legislation with EU norms—paving the way for Ukraine’s deeper integration into the European transport market.
