A dormouse caused a power outage in Terminal 1 of Frankfurt am Main Airport (Germany) for several hours.
This was reported by Spiegel.
The power outage lasted for several hours on Tuesday night. It was caused by a dormouse that caused a short circuit at a medium voltage substation. The power went out, and the airport fire brigade was called due to the smoke that formed. The animal was found dead next to the chewed-up cable.
The power outage affected areas A and partially B in Terminal 1 of the airport. This sector is mainly used by Lufthansa. Power was restored around 3:30am and scheduled flights resumed at 5am.
Recently, a similar incident occurred in Paris, in the Olympic fanzone. A marten chewed on a fibre optic cable.
