Another Terrorist Strike by Russia on a High-Rise Building in Ukrainian Kharkiv - 1 Killed, 43 Wounded
On 15 September, explosions were heard in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv as the occupying Russian army carried out another terrorist attack on Ukraine with aerial bombs. One strike hit a residential high-rise building in Kharkiv, causing a fire and destruction, killing 1 person and injuring 43, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.
‘A Russian air strike. An ordinary residential building, a multi-storey building, was damaged. There is a fire and rubble between the 9th and 12th floors. At the moment, we know about almost 30 wounded, including children. All services are involved in rescuing people. I am grateful to everyone who is helping. And the world must help defend Ukraine from Russian military aircraft, from dozens of guided bombs that take lives of Ukrainians every day. This terror can be stopped. But to stop the terror, we need to stop the fear of strong decisions that are objectively necessary. Only determination can end this war justly. It is determination that most effectively protects against terror,’ said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
There are four children among the wounded. The youngest child is one year old, said Mayor Igor Terekhov. 14 people wounded in the Russian strike on Kharkiv were hospitalised, including two children, one of whom is in serious condition, said the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov. A 70-year-old man is also in serious condition in the hospital.
Rescuers unblocked the body of the deceased on the 9th floor of the building. The woman was a 94-year-old woman who had been missing since the bomb hit the building, the prosecutor's office said. She was identified by DNA testing - her body was almost completely burnt. This was confirmed by Kharkiv police chief Volodymyr Tymoshko on Suspilne TV.
The State Emergency Service also rescued a man and his dog from the 12th floor of a burning high-rise building that had been hit by a Russian shell. The owner first tied the dog to the ropes during the rescue, and later evacuated himself.
