British Journalist Killed, Four Others Wounded in Another Russian Terrorist Attack in Ukraine
A British journalist was killed in a terrorist attack by Russian troops on the Sapphire Hotel in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. Four other journalists from the United States, Latvia, Germany, and Ukraine were injured.
This was reported by the Ukrainian police and the Donetsk regional state administration.
According to reports, the body of a 40-year-old British man was recovered from the rubble of the destroyed hotel building. The injured journalists, all men, sustained mine-blast injuries, brain contusion, a broken leg, contusions, cut wounds and bruises. The injured journalists were from the Reuters news agency. They confirmed this. Two of the media workers were hospitalised, while the rest are being treated on an outpatient basis.
In addition, two local women who were in their homes at the time of the hostile attack were injured. Thus, a total of 6 people were wounded in the attack on Kramatorsk, one of them is in serious condition.
The attack took place on 24 August at 22:35 Kyiv time. On that day, Ukraine celebrated its Independence Day. The police suggested that the Russians had attacked the hotel with an Iskander-M missile.
Later, Polish media outlet Polsat News reported that a Polish journalist covering Russia's war against Ukraine was also injured in the Russian strike on Kramatorsk. She was driving a car near the site of the missile strike.
The Donetsk regional administration added that, in addition to the hotel, the strike damaged 17 private houses and 6 multi-storey buildings, 3 enterprises, an administrative building and a coffee shop.
