Director of US Central Intelligence Agency Pays Last Working Visit to Ukraine
The director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, Bill Burns, has visited Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on social media.
Zelenskyy said that this was Burns' last visit to Ukraine as CIA director.
‘Usually, such meetings are not reported publicly, and all our meetings - in Ukraine, in other European countries, in America, and in other parts of the world - took place without official notification. But now, after the last visit, it is worth saying openly,’ he noted.
The Head of State also wished Burns and his family ‘all the best’ and expressed hope for a meeting in the future.
As CIA Director, William Burns was responsible for non-public communication between the Joe Biden administration and the Ukrainian side, as well as negotiations with Russia, including on the use of nuclear weapons and hostage exchange.
This year, Burns also travelled to the Balkans to counter Russia's hybrid influence.
