Dutch Intelligence Confirms Increased Russian Use of Chemical Weapons in Ukraine

The Dutch Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) has confirmed that Russia is increasingly deploying chemical weapons in its ongoing war against Ukraine.
The Gaze reports this, referring to a statement made by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.
In a post on social media platform X, Brekelmans stated: “The Military Intelligence and Security Service of the Netherlands (MIVD) has confirmed that Russia is increasingly using chemical weapons in Ukraine.
I am visiting our specialists in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats (CBRN). They work within the Ministry of Defense and support, among others, the police and fire services in cases of emergencies involving hazardous substances. Much respect!”
The minister did not elaborate on specific incidents but emphasized the importance of Dutch preparedness and response capabilities in the face of such threats.
Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has recorded over 10,000 instances of Russian chemical attacks on Ukrainian defense forces since the start of the full-scale invasion.
These include the use of aerosol grenades such as the K-51, RGR, and RG-Vo, which contain toxic substances with irritant effects.
Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence also intercepted a Russian military order to deploy chemical agents against Ukrainian troops, further underscoring the severity of the threat.
As The Gaze previously reported, Kaja Kallas, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, also stated that Russia is ramping up its use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian forces, sparking serious concern among European leaders.
