Eight Injured, Two Killed in Overnight Drone Attack on Kyiv

A massive overnight drone strike on Kyiv has left at least two people dead and eight others injured, including four children, according to city officials.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Ukrinform, citing the statement of Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
According to Klitschko, four people were hospitalized among them, three children, while four others received medical assistance at the scene. Emergency services continue to work at multiple sites across the capital.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) reported significant damage in four districts of the city:
-
In the Sviatoshynskyi District (western Kyiv) debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck a nine-story residential building, igniting apartments on the upper four floors. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which spanned approximately 100 square meters. Five individuals, including four children, were rescued; three of the children were hospitalized with burns.
-
In the Dnipro District (eastern, left-bank Kyiv) a drone crash caused partial structural damage to a high-rise residential building, affecting the 29th and 30th floors. No injuries or fire were reported.
-
In the Shevchenkivskyi District (central Kyiv) drone fragments hit a five-story residential building, sparking fires on the third and fifth floors. Rescuers discovered two bodies during the extinguishing operations.
-
In the Solomianskyi District (central-western Kyiv) drone wreckage landed in an open area without causing injuries.
Authorities say the attack was part of a broader Russian assault on the capital using drones and missiles. Rescue efforts are ongoing, and officials warn that casualty figures could rise.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on May 2, at least 29 civilians were injured in a large-scale Russian missile strike on the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia.
