EU Allocates Additional €110 Million in Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine
The European Union has announced the allocation of €110 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The funds are intended to support Ukrainians affected by Russia's war in Ukraine.
This information is reported on the EU’s official website.
"As Russia's war against Ukraine continues, the humanitarian situation in the country remains dire. The onset of winter poses further challenges to the already vulnerable communities impacted by the war. The EU is reinforcing its humanitarian funding in Ukraine with an additional €100 million, while providing €10 million to support Ukrainian refugees and their host communities in Moldova," the statement said.
According to the announcement, the humanitarian aid, channeled through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, will assist partner countries in providing priority services to Ukraine, including cash assistance, food, water, shelter, healthcare services, psychosocial support, and protection.
Considering Russia's attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure last year, the European Union plans to send an additional 84 generators from its strategic reserves. Overall, through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, over 500 such systems have already been sent to Ukraine.
"As Russia’s missiles wreak havoc in Ukraine, the humanitarian community must be ready to assist the most vulnerable people affected during harsh winter months. Our commitment to the people of Ukraine remains as strong as ever," emphasized EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič.
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the total amount of humanitarian aid provided by the EU to Ukraine has reached €843 million, including €785 million for Ukraine and €58 million to support internally displaced persons, who sought refuge in neighboring Moldova.
Recall that The Gaze reported earlier that Norway allocated an additional billion Norwegian kroner for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The funds will be directed to provide housing, food, water, and proper sanitation for people affected by the unprovoked genocidal war waged by Russia in Ukraine.
