Norway Allocates an Additional Billion Crowns for Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine
Norway has announced new humanitarian aid for Ukraine in the amount of one billion crowns (84.1 million euros), which will be transferred to specialized Norwegian organizations.
This was reported by the official page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
Thus, Norway will provide funds for the implementation of humanitarian missions to the Norwegian Red Cross, the Norwegian Refugee Council, the Norwegian Church Aid, Norwegian People's Aid, Caritas Norway, the organization "Save the Children Norway," and the civilian defense forces NORCAP.
"Now Ukrainians are facing a new, cold winter of war. Almost 18 million people need humanitarian assistance. The cruel Russian aggressive war against the Ukrainian people is in full swing," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Espen Barth Eide.
The funds allocated by the Norwegian government will primarily be directed to providing shelter, food, water, and proper sanitary conditions for those who have lost their homes due to Russia's military actions in Ukraine. In addition, the funds will also be allocated for education, healthcare, and psychosocial support.
"Our Norwegian colleagues in the humanitarian field are doing invaluable work in providing emergency assistance. Cooperation with Ukrainian partners also makes Ukraine more resilient and prevents a worsening of the humanitarian situation," noted the head of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is worth noting that Norway is one of the world's largest donors of humanitarian support to Ukraine. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Norway has already provided assistance totaling over 4.5 billion Norwegian crowns.
Recall that last month, Norway announced the allocation of 1.5 billion Norwegian crowns to ensure the import of gas and electricity to Ukraine.
These funds will be directed towards the repair, technical maintenance of critical power infrastructure, emergency power supply in areas affected by hostilities, and the purchase of gas for emergency storage.
Earlier, it was also reported that Norway allocated 200 million Norwegian crowns for demining Ukrainian territories.
