EU to Provide Additional €148 Million in Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine
The European Commission has allocated an additional €148 million for humanitarian aid to Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees in Moldova. This was reported by the press service of the European Commission.
The new funding package is aimed at implementing humanitarian projects in the two countries. The total amount of funds allocated by the European Commission for Ukraine, together with this package, exceeded €1.1 billion.
Of the total amount of new funds, €140 million will be allocated to projects directly in Ukraine.
‘The funding will cover immediate needs such as food, shelter, clean water, medical care and winterisation support. The main focus is on helping vulnerable groups in the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine, which have been most affected by the war,’ the statement said.
Another 8 million euros will be allocated to support Ukrainian refugees in Moldova and the communities that host them. These funds will cover cash assistance, access to healthcare, education, and psychological support.
As previously reported by The Gaze, last week Ukraine received the first €3bn from the EU as part of a $50bn G7 loan to be repaid using frozen Russian assets.
