EU Countries Cover Over Half of Ukraine's Ammunition Needs

The European Union is supplying more than half of Ukraine’s ammunition requirements, according to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Reuters reports.
‘These things are moving very well. We need to get the help to Ukraine as fast as possible. President Zelenskiy has said that they need five billion to have at least two million rounds,’ Kallas said ahead a of EU defense ministers’ summit in Warsaw.
‘I'm glad to see that we already have different proposals or different countries are coming with their input to this, so we have already over 50% of what is needed,’ she added.
The informal EU defense ministers’ meeting, taking place on April 2–3, focuses on bolstering Europe’s defense industry and accelerating rearmament. Continued military support for Ukraine remains a key topic on the agenda.
Amid a brief pause in U.S. military aid to Ukraine from March 3 to March 11, EU countries have intensified their support. Reports suggest that EU member states are encouraged to provide military assistance to Ukraine in 2025, with an initial commitment of at least €20 billion ($21.8 billion), potentially rising to €40 billion depending on Ukraine’s needs.
As The Gaze previously reported, on 3 March the Danish government decided to provide Ukraine with the 25th military assistance package worth $970 million. Latvia will supply 12,000 drones worth €17 million, while the Netherlands has allocated €500 million for drones. Sweden, in turn, pledged its largest aid package since the 2022 Russian invasion, totaling $1.6 billion.
