The owner of the Polish section of the Yamal gas pipeline, Europol Gaz, filed a claim against Russia's Gazprom for a total amount of about PLN 6 billion.

Deputy Prime Minister and State Assets Minister Jacek Sasin stated this, Interia.pl reported.

The claim concerns overdue accounts receivable and lost profits.

Europol Gaz, i.e. the company responsible for gas transmission, filed a lawsuit against Gazprom for the return of approximately PLN 850 million of accounts receivable, overdue accounts receivable for gas transportation, Deputy Prime Minister said.

Sasin estimated that former Prime Minister Waldemar Pawlak donated this money to the Russians in 2010, he did not claim this money, which also shows how that government was in favor of the Russians, but on the condition that the Russians will send this gas until 2045 and Europol Gaz will he made money from it.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the gas that was supposed to flow through Poland does not flow, which is why Poland has the right to demand a refund.

In addition, this lawsuit also concerns the lost profit of Europol Gaz. This amount exceeds PLN 5 billion. This is how the time until 2045 was actually estimated, when the Russians undertook to send gas through Polish territory, he stressed.

Gazprom refused to continue gas supplies to Poland after Poland refused to pay Moscow in rubles in the spring of 2022. Formally, the contract between Poland and Russia was supposed to be valid until 2045, but Gazprom stopped supplying fuel due to Poland's refusal.

Recall that in May 2022, Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC has started a pre-arbitration procedure due to Gazprom's failure to comply with a "pump or pay" condition under a contract for organizing natural gas transit, i.e. for incomplete payment of booked capacities.

In January-April 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, gas transit through the gas transmission system of Ukraine decreased from 14 billion cubic meters to approximately 9 billion cubic meters. In addition, Gazprom did not pay Naftogaz in full for transit in June.
