Ukraine, U.S. Report Progress After Five-Hour Berlin Talks on Peace Plan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a lengthy round of talks in Berlin with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Ukrinform and Reuters.
The meeting between the Ukrainian and American delegations lasted more than five hours and concluded late on Sunday evening. Zelenskyy was joined by senior Ukrainian officials, while the U.S. side was represented by Witkoff, who has been closely involved in discussions surrounding Washington’s peace initiative, and Kushner.
Presidential communications adviser Dmytro Lytvyn said the talks had wrapped up for the day and would resume on Monday morning, indicating that negotiations were still ongoing.
Zelenskyy arrived in Berlin earlier on Sunday to take part in discussions focused on a proposed peace plan, as diplomatic activity intensified ahead of a broader gathering of European leaders.

In a statement published on the social media platform X, Witkoff described the Berlin meeting as “substantive” and said it covered a wide range of issues, including a 20-point peace proposal and economic programs.
“Representatives held in-depth discussions regarding the 20-point plan for peace, economic agendas, and more,” Witkoff wrote, adding that the talks had resulted in “a lot of progress” and that both sides would reconvene the following morning.
Zelenskyy has previously stressed that Ukraine remains opposed to proposals that would create unclear governance arrangements in occupied territories, including ideas related to demilitarized economic zones in eastern Ukraine.
The Berlin discussions come ahead of a summit scheduled for Monday, where Zelenskyy is expected to meet with European leaders, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
According to Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump authorized the Berlin talks after signaling that Washington would only send senior envoys if there was a realistic prospect of progress. Witkoff’s presence was widely interpreted as a sign that the White House believes momentum may be building.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the Ukrainian President attempts to rewrite Trump’s peace plan rather than reject it.
