Freedom First Lend-Lease Act: Force Russia to the Negotiating Table with American Power

Joe Wilson, a member of the US House of Representatives from the Republican Party, has announced that he will introduce the Freedom First Lend-Lease Act to Congress. According to Wilson, this document will provide Trump with ‘flexible authority to send winning weapons to our partners, including Ukraine’.

As a result, it will help ‘deter the war criminal Putin, as Biden should have done a long time ago,’ the congressman believes.

‘Force Russia to the negotiating table with American power!’ he concluded.

It is not yet known what exactly Wilson's legislative initiative will provide for. There is also no information on how much support it has among other members of the Republican-dominated Congress.

In general, the so-called Lend-Lease mechanism for Ukraine was approved in May 2022. The document then granted the US President the authority to send weapons on the condition that their cost would be returned later. However, in practice, the lend-lease mechanism was never used. Legally, however, it has been extended several times as an amendment to the US National Security Appropriations Act until 2024.
